Back To Cinematic Pictures

I've not done one of these in a long time. But I really enjoy making these, especially because my process is somewhat organic. It might mean we see a bit more of the same kind of pictures but since it is my own miniatures coming to life in the world they live in it makes me happy regardless.

I hope you enjoy and will leave a comment!

Trying This Again

Close to a year and a half ago I tried to pick this up again and post regular stuff.
I know this isn't the best way to go about things but unlike what it seems like I have in fact done a lot about my hobby. I have been painting quite some but I just didn't finish anything. I therefor made sure that the end of 2025 I stayed mainly on the right path to wrapping up an army.

I can post again today because I actually did!

Without too much further ado:

First up is some cavalry with the army lord as their leader

Something I always find hard are finishing my ranged units. I don't know why that is but I did manage this time!

Some men at arms, representing some more expert.

A unit of spearmen with pavisse. I have been working on this unit for years, constantly starting other stuff instead of finishing this one.

A second unit to go along with the first one. Ever since I saw how good the first one looked I had to make a second one to bolster the awesome colour blob on the table.

Finally one more spearman unit. This one isn't really part of the army. I made the unit but the army felt kind of flat in terms of colours with this so I opted to replace this unit with the one poster above this one. But no worries, it will have a good spot in the collection where eventually I hope to have so many units done that I can grab them off the shelve any time for a good game when I feel like playing them in some combination with other colourful collections of men.

A full army picture is still coming. It is a big group and getting them all in the correct lighting seems to have been one of my greatests banes today.

I am also working on a force to face this one which is well underway too. I believe I am about 15 miniatures out. Hopefully I can finish it too soon but it seems very doable.

I hope you enjoy and will leave a comment!

Back To Business

After a long absence here I feel like coming back as I'm working hard on getting this project back to life. I will post some pictures of what I am working on soon but I want to use this thread as a way to make sure I stay on track.

And to make sure I don't just write random stuff here I have some pictures that I have made since my last update that I think you will like.

Glorious Charge

 Hey there everyone.

Thank you all so much for the kind words. I have been working on some new things. I have been working on some miniatures that are not intended for a specific force yet. The ultimate dream is to have those two armies standing and have all kinds of miniatures besides that to create new fun combinations with.

I started working on some knights. slightly converted the falling knight from claymore as I feel that making your own troops die in modelling already is a bad omen for your winrate in games. I might eventually do one for pictures though. It is after all a very nice sculpt regardles. For now enjoy the picture I made with the knights. I simply named it: Glorious Charge

Here the knights seperately:

I hope you like them!

To Arms

To arms! The project is good and well underway now. I have finished painting another unit. Naturally I had to take a picture with them dubbed "To Arms".

This unit has quickly become one of my favorite units I've ever made. The miniatures all stand in very interesting poses and really invite a closer look. Besides that the colours are great. I like it so much that I have decided to make this scheme the main one for my army. Naturally I will ad all kinds of other troops and randomly painted cool miniatures but I would like to have 2 armies with a distinct style and scheme to represent 2 warring factions.

For these guys I got the idea from the movie Robin Hood. In the Chalus Battle Scene at the start of the film you can see this banner atop a tower:

I fell in love with it and had to build forces around it. So I am. Not perse as Chalus forces but just because I like the banner.

Here is the first unit.

I hope you like them!

I Have Returned

April 2020 was my last post. Holy moly. I should have kept the blog going a bit better.

I did have the Covids around that time and ever since then my energy levels have dropped massively. I have also been spending a lot of time working on my stream. https://www.twitch.tv/breazer_ if you are interested.

I have decided to leave my 13th century stuff for a while and skip forward to 14th century with a large amount of Claymore Castings. those miniatures are absolutely fantastic. Besides that I have a lot of Perry miniatures that I havent put to good use yet. Once again I am just going to go for a credible medieval feel without trying to make actual excisting banners. It may happen that I use some that were actual used banners but this is either by accident, because I like the design or because I enjoy the story behind the real person carrying them in history. I converted some Perry miniatures to start this project of. Just one unit to see what I can do and if I like this project as much as I think I do. So far no dissapointments and here is the unit in a picture i dubbed "The Hesitant".

I tried to varnish them after I took the picture and I believe I hit them a bit too hard. They have become somewhat glossy which is something I tried to avoid with a mat varnish. It isnt a very big bother on the table and I personally don't find it a disaster on this unit. I will however be a lot more careful with it in the future.

Mounted Experiment

Hey there,

I have recently started to try and pull my project a bit more together and I'm starting to ad some new things so eventually I can just pick which miniatures I like to have in my force for that particular battle. This planning forward struck me with some creativity and I cut up a few horses to make this new one. The rest of him is a kitbash of all kinds of medieval kits. He will get some friends in the near future. I hope you like him!

Ironclad Reinforcements III

Hey there,

I've been working on patching up some miniatures that didn't really have a purpose along side others that have been standing half finished in my closet for a while now. I'm slowly adding more to this project in a very effective way and personally I really enjoy this. I feel I have reached a point where I have painted enough for at least the red army (except for the unfinished ranged and cavalry miniatures that I can just add what I like to it and that gives this project a certain calm. There is tons I still want to ad to it though so I won't be done anytime soon.

I also took a better picture of the guy I used in Dex Aie.

The two guys on the left I had painted once before. I changed their shields to the red and white I use on the others too so they match. The guy on the right was a miniature that was standing half finished in my closet for quite a while. More of these coming soon (I hope)

Dex Aie

Hey there.

I have been sick for a while now but I finally managed some painting again! I finished the Raimund of Toulouse miniature and I knew I just had to use him for a picture. I dubbed it "Dex Aie" after the Norman battlecry (I looked it up, but I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong soon enough) . I hope you like it.

Ironclad Reinforcements II

Hey there,

Small update today. I painted some of the converted miniatures. I didn't do all of them yet because I'm a little sick. Not really a little and painting with a runny nose is practically impossible. No worries though, I will get better in time. In the meantime these guys get to mix themselves freely into existing units, which I am pretty happy about!

Ironclad Reinforcements

I have neglected the Ironclad project a bit. I still feel most of the miniatures out there are not great. I tried to pull myself a bit out of the slumb by building some miniatures to mix into my units or eventually finish. I decided I'd slowly start adding to the armies until something conclusive would come out. Expect some more miniatures here a bit more often. I have been thinking of trying the v&v crusaders. Those seem like good choices.

For now I have build 6 more miniatures for the red side i've already made a bunch for.

I hope you like them.

Infantry

Like most likely spotted in the background of the last update. I added a bunch of guys to the red and yellow unit. They are now 12 man too and can be called a full unit.
I wanted to finish these first before moving on to the next unit. I'm not entirely happy with the pictures but I'm sure they will return for a round of better pictures, either here or in a cool image with backdrop.

WIP Troops

The last couple days I spend building this unit. It came together rather organically as the knight leading the charge there was initially intended for a different unit (the one in the background). I started shuffling things around and started gathering other miniatures to aid the unitless knight.

I also started experimenting with new weapons (this has a lot to do with me not owning enough metal halberts) I took some plastic weapons from other kits and to make them match the halberts that come with the Claymore miniatures I took some metal rods and put the weapon heads on there instead. This seemed to work and I was happy that i could say I made it my own by tweaking small things to my liking.

After fitting it all together in one unit I am now very happy with it. The unit looks like a raging bunch of bloodthirsty warriors and at the same time (and I credit this entirely to the wonderful sculpts) it invites to take a closer look to see what is going on there.

Like I said I'm really happy with them and the more I work on this project the more I think about gaming with them after all. I think Lion Rampant is the way to go for them as I already own those rules and they are nice and straight forward. 12 then also seems like the perfect number per unit. The larger ones I will make sure you can split into two seperate units without too much trouble.

Also notice the red and yellow boys are getting some reinforcements.

Men At Arms

Hey there,

I added 6 more guys to the unit I started this project with. I shuffled them around a bit. The idea now is to first finish the other units I have in my head. make all of them 12 miniatures in size and once those are done I'd like to expand all of them to 24 miniatures. perhaps add some pennants still to add some more panache to the unit as a whole. Lots of work left to go. Next up are some archers and some more cavalry.
