Some Orcs Just Because

I am currently throroughly invested in the middle earth SBG and I love it. The more I know about it the more I want to play it and work on cool things for it. I got me the starterset and started painting the Morannon orcs. I created a captain for them out of some of the models I didn't use and since it has been a while that I posted something here I figured I'd just share this quick snap of him that I took.

What Can Men Do....

Hey there,

I have another update for you on the Middle Earth SBG force.

First off some of the first Uruk Hai Warriors. These are the second hand miniatures from the first post.
The Uruk Hai captain.

 The first 6 finished.

I have also been collecting some more miniatures and finished the first few.

Lurtz and some of his friends. I think the bulk of my army will be these guys simply because I love the models so much.

Great Orcs WIP

I wanted to post a quick WIP picture of the first 2 uruks I finished. Before I started I looked some reference material and I found this art that is from the Shadow of Mordor game I believe.

These are the first two I painted as a test.

So It Begins

I have been long considering diving into the world of Middle Earth. the world is so well established and so rich it offers itself for a lot of cool narratives. I was also very inspired by the pictures created by the hobbyist known as HVM. If you don't know him, look him up on facebook.

I bought some Uruk Hai miniatures on Ebay to make a start with painting something before I dive deep into the rules. I'd like to just paint something. In general I like to just make the estetics count for more than the rule efficiency

These are the miniatures I managed to salvage from my first Ebay order. 5 uruks with sword and board, 5 with pikes and one Uruk captain.

I will be going for a non traditional colour scheme for them. I rather have them look like other great orcs than the ones hailing from Isengard.

And So It Begins.

First Tile Done

I managed to finish the first of the six tiles. Slowly but surely the progress comes.

Fixing The Terrain

I am still slowly painting miniatures for various projects too, but something that has been bothering me for quite a while now is how I treated my terrain boards when I first wanted to add gras to it. I had never done this properly before and therefor I think I messed them up good. I have managed to always keep this fairly invisible in my pictures but The day would always come that I would have to redo it.

I dreaded doing it for quite some time because it feels like a huge timesink and I frankly don't really have the space to do it in. But today I have begun the venture into new and better terrain nonetheless.

Cleaning the boards as they were was the first big step. I made use of the nice weather to grab some sun while I was at it.

After cleaning them they look somewhat decent again. When they are dry I will move on to the next steps.

Dark Imperium

I have been painting a lot of medieval models of late. I think I settled on sometihng that I can keep expanding for a long long time. I hope to have a giant force at some point and to just be able to field anything I like at a particular time. Good goals I'd say.

However this new 40k edition is drawing me in and I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I will only go for the nurgle side this time because I'm not entirely sure what to think of the primaris yet. For now I'm sharing the box with a friend. No worries I have some cool plans for the nurgles. Something I couldnt finish last time I worked on these.

The box art for this kit is pretty cool though.

Age Of Sigmar Moving On

Hey there,

The title of this post may be a bit strange but what it means is that while I keep making plans for this summer to get things done and such and in the meantime GW is releasing new things. Such as the Generals handbook. Which I got because it seems like a really fun book. The warbands I initially made are not entirely 1000 points. Which is what you play when you play the vanguard level games.

I've mentioned before that I hop from the one thing to the next on which I feel inspired at the moment so I expanded the lists so they are all 1k. minor expansions but sure fun.

I will go over them when I get to them most likely.

More to come soon.

Destroy Everything

Hey there,

I am far too quiet on this blog most of the time. And It's not something I do intentional. I try to keep things orderly and show progress based on projects. But I do hop from one thing to the next all the time and I hardly ever paint things in batches. I will just keep you updated on stuff I finish because it would make for more updates.
Today is a bunch of orcs that I have done some time ago already.

One Foot In The Bloodpool

Hey there,

I have a new update for you all.
It's my Khorne Lord on Juggernaut. I made him out of all sorts of parts so to have something really original.

I gave him a cool shield.

I'm really happy with how he turned out.

My warband is starting to come together.

Halfway done now so I really have to soldier on and finish them. This already is a very satisfying sight.

Buttons

Hey there,

I had this guy already finished but never really took a decent picture of him yet. But he will never miss out a fight with my Khorne warband.

Meet Buttons the spawn.

Quest For Blood

Hey there,

I actually wanted to start the Quest of Three Warbands with my new Orruks. But the models don't really want to arrive so I will go ahead with the Khorne Bloodbound first.
They already had some things done so I will present you first with the body of the warband.

The Blood Warriors.

I hope you like them and will tell me what you think in the comments.

Chaotic Bells Ringing

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update. I painted the 4 warriors I made a few days ago. I am really in love with these guys and can't wait for the bits to create the other 6. So stay tuned:

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Chaos

Hey everyone,

I have been working on my plague bearers. I've made a great looking one some time ago and can't seem to fully remember the recipe. So it's taking me longer than expected to paint them all up to satisfying level.

I scratched the Varanguard from my list when I saw the price and I've been looking to add something else to the force to kind of round it out. I figured that a unit of infantry would help bulk out the slight lack of bodies. The rules for regular chaos warriors really appealed to me and although I have a lot of the old models I don't really like them anymore.
So I took my remaining Blood Warriors and scraped off the khorne icons and turned them into regular chaos warriors.

Here are the first 4:

This will be the champion:

I hope you like them and will tell me what you think.
Maybe even follow my blog and have your picture stand there with the others on the top right.

I'm Dreaming Of A Nurgle Army

Hey Everyone,

Back with another Nurgle update.
Last post I talked about how I have some things already finished for this army and in case you missed it I figured I'd post it again.

I rebased my Great Unclean One, so it isn't all old stuff.

And something I am really proud of are these finished Blightkings.

Let me know what you think in the comments

Deck The Halls In Rot

Hey everyone,

This is the first real update in my challenge. I've started to assemble my force. I actually have some things done already that I will get to in the next post. For now I would just like to show you my Nurgle Plague Bearers.

These are some that I've had laying around for longer. Intended for a 40k army but they will now double for fantasy too. Great stuff. I am not entirely happy with the two painted guys and I want to pull them more towards what my GUO currently looks like.

This will be their champion (they had none before, so he is new)

This is the second unit.

And some half painted nurglings. These are so great.

Now you know what you can look forward to this month (and maybe after too)

A little thing about the first post. I saw the price of the Varanguard and as much as I like the models I think it is too much money for 3 models. I was already having some issues with them likely being around 40 euros so seeing as it is double I have decided to leave them out of the army and leave it as is now.
