Infantry

Like most likely spotted in the background of the last update. I added a bunch of guys to the red and yellow unit. They are now 12 man too and can be called a full unit.
I wanted to finish these first before moving on to the next unit. I'm not entirely happy with the pictures but I'm sure they will return for a round of better pictures, either here or in a cool image with backdrop.

WIP Troops

The last couple days I spend building this unit. It came together rather organically as the knight leading the charge there was initially intended for a different unit (the one in the background). I started shuffling things around and started gathering other miniatures to aid the unitless knight.

I also started experimenting with new weapons (this has a lot to do with me not owning enough metal halberts) I took some plastic weapons from other kits and to make them match the halberts that come with the Claymore miniatures I took some metal rods and put the weapon heads on there instead. This seemed to work and I was happy that i could say I made it my own by tweaking small things to my liking.

After fitting it all together in one unit I am now very happy with it. The unit looks like a raging bunch of bloodthirsty warriors and at the same time (and I credit this entirely to the wonderful sculpts) it invites to take a closer look to see what is going on there.

Like I said I'm really happy with them and the more I work on this project the more I think about gaming with them after all. I think Lion Rampant is the way to go for them as I already own those rules and they are nice and straight forward. 12 then also seems like the perfect number per unit. The larger ones I will make sure you can split into two seperate units without too much trouble.

Also notice the red and yellow boys are getting some reinforcements.

Men At Arms

Hey there,

I added 6 more guys to the unit I started this project with. I shuffled them around a bit. The idea now is to first finish the other units I have in my head. make all of them 12 miniatures in size and once those are done I'd like to expand all of them to 24 miniatures. perhaps add some pennants still to add some more panache to the unit as a whole. Lots of work left to go. Next up are some archers and some more cavalry.

Halberts And Shields

Hey Guys,

The responses to the mounted figures have been great. I've been really motivated to work more on this project. I started mapping out what to build and with what miniatures and I think I have another years work planned out for me. I hope I'll have it done faster though.

I made a start at another unit and finished the first 6 mini's for them. I will add more to them as I move forward.

Knights In Shiny Armor

We arived in 2020 and that means I should really get back to some of my projects. This one I neglected a bit right after I started it. But I really do love it. This year initially I will try to focus on working on some of my 40k armies and this wonderful project. I have mapped out a bunch of things for it and these guys are the first of the continuation!

I hope you like them too!

Mounted Men

Hey there,

I finished some mounted men for this project. I went with frontrank but couldn't resist or be me without making some adjustments to them. It's nice to have miniatures that are unique. Lot's more of these to come for sure.

New Project: Swords, Lances And War Eternal

Hey there everyone, I recently started a new project. I keep looking at David Imrie's (aka Saxon Dog) miniatures and I just love his work, whenever I see it I just want to take cool pictures with them. At some point I had to have some myself for just this goal. It so far is a project just for collecting and setting up cool pictures with. It is also worth noting that my first ever miniatures were the Games Workshop Bretonnians. These miniatures and this time period does feel like Bretonnia plus plus to me. So it is a nice feeling to go back to where it all began.

I have also been listening to a lot of audiobooks about the hundred years war and I find it amazingly interesting. I really fell in love with the grand companies running around France and Italy. There is something about the idea of professional soldiers, the routiers and écorcheurs that really appeals to me.

I finally settled on a nice colourscheme. It's not anything that would have existed in the 14th century though. I am truly too affraid to commit to banners and colours that have excisted for real, for fear of having too many details wrong. It's one of those things where even if it doesn't matter too much I would know and be bothered by it. It is also just a lot of fun to invent banners myself.

Onto the miniatures. These are so great and full of detail. I can stare at these for hours on end.

I went with 20mm square bases. I intend to build some movement tray thingy for them at some point.
That way I could always join the big boys if, say I got invited to come play a game. :V
