Mounted Experiment

Hey there,

I have recently started to try and pull my project a bit more together and I'm starting to ad some new things so eventually I can just pick which miniatures I like to have in my force for that particular battle. This planning forward struck me with some creativity and I cut up a few horses to make this new one. The rest of him is a kitbash of all kinds of medieval kits. He will get some friends in the near future. I hope you like him!

Ironclad Reinforcements III

Hey there,

I've been working on patching up some miniatures that didn't really have a purpose along side others that have been standing half finished in my closet for a while now. I'm slowly adding more to this project in a very effective way and personally I really enjoy this. I feel I have reached a point where I have painted enough for at least the red army (except for the unfinished ranged and cavalry miniatures that I can just add what I like to it and that gives this project a certain calm. There is tons I still want to ad to it though so I won't be done anytime soon.

I also took a better picture of the guy I used in Dex Aie.

The two guys on the left I had painted once before. I changed their shields to the red and white I use on the others too so they match. The guy on the right was a miniature that was standing half finished in my closet for quite a while. More of these coming soon (I hope)

Dex Aie

Hey there.

I have been sick for a while now but I finally managed some painting again! I finished the Raimund of Toulouse miniature and I knew I just had to use him for a picture. I dubbed it "Dex Aie" after the Norman battlecry (I looked it up, but I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong soon enough) . I hope you like it.

Ironclad Reinforcements II

Hey there,

Small update today. I painted some of the converted miniatures. I didn't do all of them yet because I'm a little sick. Not really a little and painting with a runny nose is practically impossible. No worries though, I will get better in time. In the meantime these guys get to mix themselves freely into existing units, which I am pretty happy about!

Ironclad Reinforcements

I have neglected the Ironclad project a bit. I still feel most of the miniatures out there are not great. I tried to pull myself a bit out of the slumb by building some miniatures to mix into my units or eventually finish. I decided I'd slowly start adding to the armies until something conclusive would come out. Expect some more miniatures here a bit more often. I have been thinking of trying the v&v crusaders. Those seem like good choices.

For now I have build 6 more miniatures for the red side i've already made a bunch for.

I hope you like them.

Archers

Hey there,

I finished some archers, I had actually finished these quite some time back but for some reason I never posted these before. I figured I best do it now! They are converted fireforge miniatures and I am quite happy with how they turned out. I will likely do more like this in the future.
I hope you like them:

Yeomen Finished

I may have shown several of these already in pictures. For the longest time I had to add just one guy to this unit and he is still standing on my desk half painted. I decided that for now I would add the old knight to the unit to guide the young souls into combat. Undoubtedly having an experienced soldier with them the men will feel more confident. I am also getting excited because the armies are almost both battle ready!

Battle Of The Lions II

When I first tried out to take a cool diorama-esque picture with my miniatures, I made what I then called: "The Battle Of The Lions" on account of there being two banners of lions fighting. It made for a great contrast but I always felt like I should dive deeper into that idea. I started shoving things around and I eventually got to this very grim looking stand off.

Drive Them Back

I have been painting a lot the last few weeks and I have been thinking of taking a new picture again. I decided to use a lot of the new miniatures and change up the colours of the shields from my regular ones. Naturally I'll post the new miniatures in their own posts as full units soon.

For now I will just leave you with this devestating cavalry charge.

On The Grind

Hey there everyone,

With the showing results I have really been enjoying working on these armies. I have been very motivated to round these forces out. At least the basis because I don't think I can ever actually finish these armies. I've talked about my dream of having these forces done and just be able to expand on them in all calm. I have some great ideas for future units but I will finish these first.

Back to when I first started this project. The command for this unit are unaltered miniatures except for the base. The rest of the unit is entirely new miniatures. I really love the footsore miniatures but I prefer the spears upright pose. I just love the sight of all those spears lined up. I think they still look dynamic.

The next one is also 2 altered miniatures. I made some knights to lead my red force in to battle. I wasn't too pleased with them in the end. Mainly because it didn't look like they were really part of the same army. I was also not too happy with the lack of head protection my leader had. I think it is a warhammer thing to give unit commanders a different weapon and a bare head to make them stand out. I do think it is nice to add a bit of character this way so I will continue to do so. I swapped out his bare head for a chainmailed head that I gave a little beard. He also got a name so Robert the Broken Hearted knows who he is facing. I named him Renault Bourdillon.
The rest of the unit is still being worked on.

And finally a fun little distraction. I have been asking some of my friends what if they got to choose it their coat of arms would look like. I figured if I like what they came up with I could maybe build a miniature to devote to it and add them to units swapping out some regular figures or a command. One friend had this great idea and I ran with it. There is a whole story behind his name that probably doesn't make too much sense to explain. You'll just have to take my word for it that it's cool.
This is Robert le Marteau

Alright, on to finishing the next bunch!

New Troops Arrive

Hey there friends,

The last couple of weeks I have been working hard on picking up my medievals project. I really enjoy coming back to this with new ideas each time.

My dream has always been to have this basic set up of two armies done and to just be able to expand on them with whatever I feel like. I am closing in on this now and I have never been more motivated to get there. Next to that I have been trying out new things to make my miniatures look more interesting. It is sometimes really tedious to have to kitbash everything but it also offers great options to try out certain things.

I have half of the white men at arms done with the speartip as weapon. They will all be carrying handweapons and shield. Most of them will be swords because I think its a very iconic weapon for medieval times. I think it should be featured a lot in my armies.

This is a small taste I suppose of what that "whatever I like" looks like. A unit with no set allegiance (like the red or the blue side)
I can just pick these up and field them on either side and make the armies a bit brighter and varried.

That brings me to my next unit.
They are an extension of the yellow knight I have painted before. He still lacks a unit but I really like his colours. Fun fact I always pick yellow as my go to colour in boardgames but I have never painted a yellow army before. Maybe this is a step in the right direction.

Finally I worked on the blue knights. Robert the Broken Hearted's own unit. I wasn't happy with them before and I think these look a lot better.

More cool stuff on the way as I try to make finish this before the victrix vikings come out.

A Sign Of Life

Hey there,

I have been terrible in keeping this up to date. I have moved into a new home and I think we have finally settled in enough in order to make some new pictures again. I have been working on some new units and as I round them out I will post them here again.

This is one of them for now. He is another kitbash. I have been trying some new things with colours and adding some details to some of these guys.

Cold Steel

Hey there everyone,

I have been saving this picture for a while now hoping I'd have some time to create a few more shots that would match this one in some kind of series. I've not been able to really land the idea in a result I'm happy with. I will keep trying of course but since I am moving soon I figured I would post it already.

It is one of those pictures that grew somewhat organically. I worked out where everything was supposed to go as I was looking through the lens and making everything match and work out. Those are the most fun to do because you can really make something great step by step.

This picture also features several of the yeomen I've been working on and that are now almost finished.

I named it: Cold Steel

This is one of my absolute favorites so far. Together with Be Without Fear and Lionheart.

Silent Oath

I have been working a bit on other things but I got inspired to take some cool pictures. I should probably find some cool new mini's soon to get some new shots with.

I will get back to painting some more Middle Earth SBG stuff soon. For now here is a picture I called: Silent Oath

and another one I'm not too confident about.

Hallowed Destiny

Hello friends,

I have been working on another picture again. This time using templars I have painted a while ago. I have been meaning to do something with these miniatures for quite a while. I have a bunch more of them but swapping the horses has been very time consuming and other things got my attention instead (as you do in this hobby). I fully intend to finish the templars at some point because I really like the miniatures and the sight of 12 of these bad boys riding next to one another, banners weaving in the wind, will be quite the sight.

For now I will have to make due with this picture of them traveling to a religious place. I named this picture Hallowed Destiny. I hope you enjoy.

Yeomen

I have been working a bit on some Yeomen for my army. I figured now that we have some decently armored men we should also have some weaker troops. I wanted them to have a more experienced leader so I gave him a more detailed shield. the others will look like armed peasants.

These are the first three

Leading The Charge

I took another picture with the riders. This is an older one but I was doubting to share it. I hope you like it either way.

Mounted Men

Hey there,

I only now just realised I never posted proper pictures of my mounted serjeants with the 3 blue lions as crest. I figured I would quickly make up for that by posting them still. I have also added 2 pictures of newly finished knights. The bearded man in red will be the lord for this army. His unit will soon follow entirely. There is a lot on my painting station right now and I intend to get through it all in due time. As this army is getting to a point where I am happy to just add things in the future I will just post here what I am working on in no particular order. Hopefully it will all get finished and I will be able to let it all come together.

The lord in red still needs a name so if anyone has a cool sounding french name I'd love to hear your suggestion.
