Hallowed Destiny

Hello friends,

I have been working on another picture again. This time using templars I have painted a while ago. I have been meaning to do something with these miniatures for quite a while. I have a bunch more of them but swapping the horses has been very time consuming and other things got my attention instead (as you do in this hobby). I fully intend to finish the templars at some point because I really like the miniatures and the sight of 12 of these bad boys riding next to one another, banners weaving in the wind, will be quite the sight.

For now I will have to make due with this picture of them traveling to a religious place. I named this picture Hallowed Destiny. I hope you enjoy.

My First Templar

Hey there,

Some time ago I bought me this set of miniatures because I really liked their look.

It is a set made by Gripping Beast and I really think it is one of the best kits they have ever made. Even the box they come in looks really nice. I wish they would do more like these.

Recently though I started working a lot with the conquest horses and I started altering models to fit on them. I raise them a bit so they are just as tall as the Fireforge ones and at first glance it is hard to tell the difference. I do like them a lot more than the Fireforge ones. The horses that come with this kit are fine. I believe a lot of the footsore miniatures sit on the same ones but they just dont match the other plastic ones I have used so far.  I want my templars to also fit in with my current models so I started working on them to fit on the conquest horses.
I also wouldn't be me if I didnt alter these to my own personal flavour a bit.

Here is the first one.

Baggage Train

Hey there everyone,

I took a bit of a break on the army and started work on the baggage train I will eventually need to play certain scenario's.

I added a few men to guard the Train. I'm thinking of adding 3 more to turn them into a light cavalry unit. I made the shield look extra worn to make them look like they are not that rich.

This is the cart.

What's What

Hey there everyone,

I am not keeping nice track of my posts of late. Instead I keep falling behind and switching projects.. hating the stuff I already made and wanting to do things better and different.

I think that I will get there at some point. For now I mean to give you a small update of the current status of my projects and share some pictures I made because I felt like taking them. Mainly because I wanted to see what I managed to collect and paint over the past year.

The medieval army is coming along quite nicely. I have finished about half of the force now minus the banners and some basing. I can't really seem to take nice enough pictures to post here of the progress. Those will follow later.

What is left to paint you ask? So far what is left are the spearmen (12), some light cavalry (6 mounted models) and 1 more heavy cavalry model.

To close out this post I would like to share with you some pictures I took last night of my Dark Age models. Just to liven things up a little.

SAGA Worthy Progress

Hey there,

I made some progress on my SAGA army (armies). I created a new leader and some warriors.

This is what everything looks like right now set up together.

Quite a few new ones but not everything has proper basing yet or is standing next to a decent unit. I will fix that in time and post some pictures of it.

This is the new leader. I named him Halvar.

These new warriors got finished and I made them with the intention to leave them together. I went with a more pagan look for these.

Valhalla Awaits

When I started this blog I made mention of the fact that I had then recently gotten myself interested in SAGA. A game that hasn't seen much of my table since then. Until now. I recently felt I should maybe explore my models and add some to it. So I did. But I have not yet posted any of them here so I will do so now as I'm already nearing the finishing of a small warband. I have replaced some models with better looking ones.

I love the dark ages, so many interesting cultures and customs. The Pagans' love for life is one that I always found fascinating and kind of envy.

For this project I am creating several warbands again because I do have a playing partner but not one that collects the game too.

The Idea also was that I would build on and when I would feel like playing I could grab models off the shelves that could either serve as Vikings, Anglo-Danes, Anglo-Saxon or maybe even Joms Vikings. I will create several leaders so one can pick those up and choose them for their warbands leader at least.

In the end most of the warriors wear mail and a round shield. I hope to at some point own enough models to make this possible but I think I am well on my way.

Here is a small overview of what is finished so far.

This is my first leader. I named him Tostig. He is accompanied by a saxon banner bearer but that could always represent something else. The bearer is not stuck to the same base.

 A small unit of Warriors.

 And the second.

More to come soon.
